Portable wheelchair lift
A start-up approached my employer with a mechanical prototype of a portable wheelchair lift. The goal was to make improvements to the design and build a prototype for user testing.
I was the lead designer on this project. Accessibility, safety, and mechanical efficiency were my main concerns as I created design concepts. I worked closely with the start-up team and the engineers on my team to build a mockup for a user testing study based on their prototype.
Upon completion of the prototype, our team found that the mechanism would not be efficient, so we did a full redesign of the mechanical components and presented this concept to the start-up. It is now featured on their website and they are using it to raise funds.
